'The Observer' £70,000 Libel Fund: An Appeal to the Trade Union and Labour Movement

London: Workers Revolutionary Party, ca. 1975. 8 x 11 in. Broadside. Minor wear; else very good. [94250]

"The Observer" wrote an account of a police raid on the Workers Revolutionary Party's "education college" which stated that arms caches were found as well as making other charges of a similar character. The WRP sued for libel. The jury agreed that the paper's allegations were false but that the "plaintiff's reputations were not materially injured by the defamations." The judge then awarded "full costs" against the WRP which could well be in the nature of £70,000.
