Although not noted in either Hinkel or Baird & Greenwood, this novel gives, according to the dust wrapper blurb, an "intimate portrayal of life in Los Angeles." It tells the story, written in a sort of breathless style sometimes reminiscent of Daisy Ashford, of a young girl who must choose between marriage and a career as a concert violinist. Rankin, who is said to be a "stage and screen actress," graduated from Los Angeles High School and the University of Southern California. Beamish was born elsewhere but also graduated from USC.
