The New America

Saugus, Calif.: The New America, 1931. 8vo. Wraps. 14 p. 2nd ed. Very good. [78182]

White was a spokesman of the Income Tax League of America. He advocated steeply graduated income tax reaching 100% of income over $25,000 and unearned income over $12,000. He also proposed a graduated inheritance & gift tax reaching 100% over $250,000. Property tax would be abolished, old age & disability pensions would be instituted, the Volstead Act would be "modified" but the 18th Amendment would be retained. These and similar measures would reverse the gross income inequality which afflcts the United States. The following warning appears on the cover: "The greed of capitalism, through unjust taxation, has enslaved 100 million Americans. A revolution in the U.S.A. is imminent. Justice in taxation will sever this monster's greedy arm and restore justice and prosperity to the masses."
