Russian Jewish poet who was born in Minsk in 1878, became involved in the Russian revolutionary movement, was exiled to Siberia & escaped to the U.S. where he became successively a garment worker (he was laid off from the Triangle Company in time to miss the disastrous fire), a dentist and a pharmacist.
