STROBE: HARRISON COUNTY UNDERGROUND NEWSPAPER

Vol. 1, No. 1 (April 27 - May 10 [1971]). [67582]

Certainly one of the more obscure underground papers. This one, on 8 1/2 x 11 inch mimeographed sheets, bears no local address but rather that of CHIPS (Cooperative High School Independent Press Service) in Washington, D.C. This copy was mailed from Jewett, Ohio to another underground paper in Brooklyn. A short note written in the left-hand margin of the first page by one Randy Payton of Jewett, requests a publication exchange. "Strobe" was a member of both CHIPS and Liberation News Service (LNS). According to the latest census figures the population of Harrison County is 15,856 while that of Jewett is all of 784!
