AWARE, Inc. was, along with American Business Consultants, one of the main players involved in blacklisting in radio & television in the 1950s. This particular publication is a denunciation of the awarding of the "second annual Richard E. Lauterbach Award ($1,000) from the Authors Guild for 'substantial contribution in the field of civil liberties'" to Elmer Davis, then with ABC. The document states that the "Richard E. Lauterbach Award is given in memory of a journalist who publicly stood in defense of the Soviets and of American Communists"
