SOCIALIST NEWS: OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CLEVELAND AND VICINITY

Vol. 5, No. 256 (November 1, 1919). Goldwater 254. Scarce. [47026]

Goldwater states: "A few issues of this paper were publiched by the Communist Party during the Unity Convention. No copies located." It obviously retains the numbering of an earlier publication but we haven't been able to determine which one. Marvin Sanford's unpublished "Check List of Periodicals: Socialist, Communist and Pupulist, United States (as of 1937)" lists the "Cleveland Socialist," a "7 col folio," as is this paper, co-edited by Charles E. Ruthenberg, who is well represented in "Socialist News." However, he doesn't supply the publication's numbering and we couldn't locate it in the "Union List of Serials." This issue contains "Declaration of the Communist Party in Regard to Unity," "Prison Nocture" (sic) by Ralph Chaplin, "Social Revolution Impending in Poverty-Stricken Italy," "Minutes of the Executive Council of the Communist Party," etc.
