"In 'Peace,' App assailed denazification as a possible smokescreen for 'Bolshevizing' Germany; under the program not only Nazis but anti-Communist Catholic elements found themselves replaced by Reds, Radicals, and 'de-Christianizers.' Throughout, App repeated the central theme of his wartime letters, that Germany receive treatment according to the principles of the Golden Rule, with justice and without revenge, and without reference to the issue of war guilt" -Frank P. Mintz, "The Liberty Lobby and the American Right." This copy is stamped: "For Sale by William J. O Connor, 4126 West Wilcox Street, Chicago 24, Illinois." O'Connor was a member of the Christian Mobilizers and other right-wing organizations. In "Under Cover" by John Roy Carlson, O'connor's role in a 1939 street brawl between the Mobilizers and the Chicago Police Department is described.
