This is the earliest version we have been able to locate. OCLC lists two holdings for a "first rewrite, Aug. 11, 2000; first revision, Sept. 7, 2000." Also there is a (presumably) later version with a different pagination which was circulated for Academy Award consideration. With the notation "For Educational Purposes Only" on the title page. Sylvia Nasar's name is misspelled (as "Nassar") on both the title page & the cover
